Tailoring - beginners/improvers - intensive

UPDATED 20140618 04:03:12

In this 3 hour long session you will learn how to make tailored garments using traditional and modern techniques, including how and where to use canvas & fusible interfacings. Emphasis will be placed on choosing suitable styles and fabrics, pattern adaptation and fitting, as well as ideas for creating professional finishes for garments. You will create a reference folder of sample techniques, which will include hand stitches, buttonholes, pockets, zips & decorative finishes. All learners will work on their own individual garment projects with guidance from the tutor, and depending upon your level of experience it should be achievable in a 10 week class to complete a skirt, trousers, waistcoat or shirt. Learners with more experience will be able to select a more complex item to work on- a jacket or coat will require additional time.
