Introduction to fused glass. Learn basic techniques of fusing and slumping coloured glass. This course is aimed at beginners and introduces students to Glass, looking specifically at Fusing and Slumping techniques. No prior knowledge of Glass or Art and Design is needed. WHAT DOES THIS COURSE COVER ------------------------------------------------------------------ The course will introduce students to contemporary Glass Design, presenting Glass Artists and Makers and showing examples of their work for inspiration and contextual understanding through slides and visual resources.The course will teach the basics of slumping and fusing techniques within glass. The content of the course will be structured to encompass a variety of skills in cutting glass with fusing and slumping methods. The course will feature a class trip to a Gallery to gain inspiration and contextual awareness. The term is twelve weeks and the first half will be focused upon learning skills with the latter half of the term focused upon a personal project utilising the skills and techniques learnt and developed. Have a basic understanding of fusing and slumping techniques. Demonstrate how to safely cut glass. Develop an awareness of contemporary Glass Design and demonstrate the ability to constructively criticise their own work and that of others. WHAT WILL IT BE LIKE ------------------------------------------------------------------ The course consists of demonstrations, slide discussions of contextual work, one to one support and group tutorials. Assessment is continual and based on progress and tutor observations. One to one support will be given to identify goals and set targets. Group tutorials will allow us to assess our continual progression
