The course aims to promote a multi-media approach with an opportunity to explore many different materials and concepts of sculpture. There is opportunity to experiment with constructions in paper, card, wood and paper-mache, and to model in clay or wax. Inspiration will be drawn from imagination and/or observation of natural forms and the work of other artists. The course offers a formal introduction to all basic techniques and materials through demonstration, practice and discussion. Students will have the opportunity to develop individual approaches, and to experiment with new materials such as paper clay. Students will learn develop and improve skills, techniques and ideas through their self and identify individual project. 1. Explore a range of materials techniques and processes for making sculpture. 2. Understand the characteristic properties of different materials e.g. clay, wood, plaster etc. 3. Identify & use appropriate materials and processes to confidentlyachieve a self-identified project 4. Develop spatial, proprtional & visual awareness Returning learners: 5 Develop ideas & techniques towards an individual project and style. Students are encouraged to identify their own personal learning objectives.
