This course is for students seeking a solid foundation in which to build a career in IT and computing or entry to higher education. Students make extensive use of the Internet and email, networking and industrial and commercial systems. Computer Systems: This unit outlines the fundamental way in which a computer works, starting with simple logic and progressing to a simple model of a microprocessor. Principles Of Software Design & Development: This unit focuses on the whole design and development process. Developing Computer Games: This unit is intended to prepare learners for the exciting and creative journey of designing, developing and testing computer game solutions. Event Driven Programming: This unit allows learners to become familiar with the underpinning concepts of event driven programming. You are internally assessed through assignments that are set and marked. There are two externally assessed pieces of coursework in the second year. You will be given the option to take GCSE English or Maths if needed Optional CISCO CCNA Units in Year 2 Students who have participated in the pre-16 programme at Loughborough College through their school will have their experience and qualifications gained taken into account when applying for these courses.
