English for Adults

Skills in reading, writing, speaking and listening are essential for work and life. We offer a range of FREE, flexible, adult courses to suit your individual needs. Courses cover Functional English Qualifications at Entry Level through to Level 2. The course operates start dates between September and April. These qualifications are recognised by employers and, increasingly, are an entry requirement for employment and further study. At Level 2 this qualification gives a sound basis for progression onto GCSE English. Understanding different reading materials .e.g. adverts, newspaper articles, instructions and information Spelling, punctuation and grammar Understanding and using a range of writing techniques e.g. filling in forms, letters, emails, memos, and reports Speaking and listening skills Level 2 requires a more advanced knowledge and application of the skills achieved at Level 1 including presentation Skills. Certification is by paper based assessments and assessments of speaking and listening skills. Candidates are awarded a pass or fail grade. Classes run for 2-3 hours per week and are held in the daytime or evening at Loughborough College You can join classes at any point between September and April.
