This course is for anyone interested in working in information and communication technology. It is also a route to advanced level courses. This course suits people who want to gain a wide knowledge of IT in industry and commerce. Heavy use is made of the Internet, email and networks. You will: Look at a variety of different document types and how information is presented effectively Learn about the different types of computers, system end-users and the tasks they perform Examine the way networks enhance the activities carried out in organisations and the main benefits that they introduce Install hardware components and carry out simple upgrades to existing systems The course is assessed by regular on-line tests, a practical skills test and a final on-line exam. You will develop a variety of skills throughout the course including collecting, analysing and interpreting data, communicating your findings in different ways and identifying and developing the links between different parts of the subject. You also have the option to take GCSE English and/or Mathematics.
