UPDATED 20170110 11:40:24

Information Technology is all around us and is a central part of our lives. The IT sector is growing all the time and IT skills are becoming more important in every area of the job market. There are two sides to IT – knowing how it works, and knowing how to use it. In the first category are people who programme computer software, design applications for mobile phones, install networks in offices and fix things when they go wrong. To get the full benefit of the software and systems these people create, skilled IT users are needed too. They can work in almost any field from arts administration to zoology. IT skills are a big asset if you want to work in this field, but you do not need to be fluent in html and Java – anyone with a logical mind and problem solving skills can excel in this incredibly fast moving sector. The demand for IT has never been greater, so developing your skills in this area is one of the best career moves you could make. The skills you learn on your apprenticeship will be valuable wherever there are computers and communications technology…which are just about everywhere.
