Level 3 Diploma for the Children & Young People's Workforce

This course is the recognised qualification for people working in the Childcare sector with children and young people aged 0-19 years. The qualification currently has three pathways: Early Learning & Childcare, Social Care & Learning and Development & Support Services. It will cover in depth the skills required by an Early Years Practitioner. Students must be 16 or over to enrol and will have to complete an initial assessment to determine suitability for the course. The average programme length to achieve this qualification is 18 – 20 months. You will attend taught classroom sessions for 3 hours a week at our academy to develop your underpinning knowledge and will need to be undertaking a minimum of 12 hours per week (for the duration of your course) in a children & young people’s setting to develop your practical skills. You will be assigned an assessor who will work closely with you, your tutor and your setting to ensure all aspects of the programme are being completed to the required standards. Your assessor will visit you every 10 weeks to conduct progress reviews and observations of practice. This course can be delivered as a study programme for young people aged 16-18, as a standalone qualification for those aged 19+ or as part of an advanced apprenticeship. Study programmes for young people aged 16-18 are fully funded. For those aged 19+ the course cost is £2500. Government funding is available for this course but is subject to eligibility criteria.
