The programme shares a common programming strand- with core modules in the first and second year. Core material is focused on the following subject areas: - Application programming - Foundations of information systems and technology - Use of information systems in a business context - Project management - Database systems and development - Ethical- compliance and professional issues Maths- English and IT will be an important part of your course. You will continue to develop these skills and may work towards a qualification at an appropriate level.

Entry requirements

Throughout the program you will undertake a Personal Development Plan (PDP) to track your progress through the course. This course also offers students the opportunity to study additionality where students are encouraged to work towards vendor specific qualifications within their program of study- such as MCTS- MCAS (Microsoft Certified Technology / Application Specialist). Other specialised qualifications may also be studied such as the CISCO CCENT (Cisco Certified Entry) or CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) awards. Some of the content of these modules is covered in the HND program and are supported by e-learning. Other vendor specific qualifications may also be studied via e-learning on request. In respect of some modules- there may be costs for learning materials- assessment fees and in some instances tuition fees. Solihull College offers full time and part time courses for businesses and residents in Birmingham- Walsall- Wolverhampton- Coventry Warwickshire and the whole of the West Midlands.
