During the course you will cover such areas as: - Field based fitness testing for sport and exercise- - Customer service in the sport and active leisure industry- - Injuries in sport- - Understanding employment rights and responsibilities- - Understanding the active leisure learning sector- - Emergency first aid- - Management of illness and injury activities- - Functional anatomy- physiology and nutrition for sports therapists- - Applying sports massage methods to non pathological tissue- - Applying taping and strapping to support and limit specific movement in sport and leisure- - Applying hot and cold techniques in sport and active leisure.

A minimum of 85% attendance is needed to complete the course- however 100% is expected. Enrichment trips/work experience- talks and demonstrations. You will need: - Emergency First aid at work certificate or first aid at work (pre-requisite) - College t-shirt for practical and clinic - Student insurance. Good levels of English and Maths are important for your success in your course- your chosen vocation and life. Throughout your course you will continue to develop your English and Maths skills in your vocational classes. If you haven't achieved an A*-C grade in English or Maths at GCSE- or a Level 2 Functional Skill- you will also be working towards a qualification in English or Maths at a level that will enable you to progress towards these grades. If you have a Learning Difficulty or Disability please let us know when you apply. You will be offered support in your interview.
