When this qualification is completed as part of the Advanced Level Apprenticeship, apprentices will be able to start a career in Aeronautical Engineering starting as a Technician. Evidence will be gathered through carrying out practical tasks and answering knowledge questions. The mechanical pathway of the course covers a variety of practical tasks including basic engineering hand skills, aircraft marshalling, flight servicing of aircraft and schedule maintenance of airframes, on both fixed wing and rotary aircrafts. The avionics pathway covers the principles of aerodynamics, fundamentals of electrics, electronics and avionics. Apprentices will be taught how to carry out tests on electrical power control systems, communication aids, navigational computers and flight guidance systems. Repairs to electronic circuit boards, radar modules and avionic line replacement units will also be covered within flight control systems that .
