Level 3 Children's Play, Learning and Development

To provide a course leading to a widely recognised national qualification, for those who wish to care for children from 0-16 years, and to open a line of progression to Higher Education such as primary teaching, social work, paediatric nursing and midwifery. This is an advanced level course, which includes work experience placements in nurseries, reception and infant classes, and special schools. The aim of the course is to equip you with both knowledge and skills to care for young children in a wide variety of settings (day nurseries, children's centres, reception class, infant class, nursery class, special school, child-minders, and family refuge centres) so the content reflects the breadth of work opportunities. Year 1 Core Units • Unit 1 Positive Relationships for Children's Care, Learning and Development • Unit 2 Environments for Children's Care, Learning and Development • Unit 3 Promoting Children's Development • Unit 4 Reflecting on professional Practice • Unit 5 Safeguarding Children • Unit 6 Promoting Children's Rights • Unit 7 Children's Learning, Activities and Play Further units taught take into consideration the various career paths which you may be considering. Alongside your course you will study English and/or Maths to improve your skills in these vital subjects by attending structured classes, as well as having your English and Maths assessed in all of your work throughout your course. This level 3 qualification provides you with a Licence to Practice' once a successful pass grade have been achieved. This qualification is designed to provide specialist work-related qualification in a range of sectors. It will give you the underpinning knowledge, understanding and skills necessary to prepare you for employment. The BTEC National Diploma offers a focused qualification for people who wish to follow a programme of study that is directly related to their work experience.
