You will study 18 subjects to give you a good grounding in the basics of engineering as well as specialist knowledge of particular areas of mechanical, electrical and electronic engineering. You will be able to select some of the units in your second year so that you can specialise in the areas you are interested in. This is a technical course, so you will learn all about engineering processes, theory and systems as well as developing an appreciation of practical engineering skills as part of your course. The first year of your course will include the following units: • Health, Safety in the Engineering Workplace, Communications for Engineering Technicians, Engineering Project, Mathematics for Engineering Technicians, Mechanical Principles and Applications, Electrical & Electronic Principles The rest of the units you will take will be chosen to provide you with the best range course to meet your needs from a wide range of units that includes further mechanical/electrical/electronic principles, programmable logic controllers, computer-aided design, further mathematics, engineering processes, engineering materials and many more. You will also continue to develop your maths, English and employability skills.
