This higher level course is designed to lead to careers in the public services and related areas. These include working within the Armed Services, Police, Fire Service, Ambulance Service, Coastguard and Rescue Services, HM Customs Service and HM Prison Service. These jobs are vital to the ongoing security, safety, welfare and the future of our society. This is a two year course with a strong focus on leadership, teamwork and developing skills and experience in adventurous activities, such as rock climbing, expeditions and water sports. The course involves a mix of classroom and practical teaching with an emphasis on personal development through adventurous activities. You will be assessed through a combination of assignment and portfolio work. This course will provide you with a sound understanding of leadership and team work associated with the pubic services, fitness and healthy lifestyles. You will learn about major incidents, human behaviour, diversity and citizenship, discipline, criminology, planning and administration and public sector employment. There will be opportunities to attend a one week 'look at life' army course and a multi activity residential week in North Wales.
