This unique course offers the opportunity for students to develop skills in the application of natural horsemanship and complementary therapy, together with a scientific approach to the theory of this growing area of the industry. Natural horsemanship will help you to work in trust and harmony with the horse and generate a rationale for both initial training and rehabilitation. You will investigate scientific evidence behind a range of complementary therapies including hydrotherapy, acupuncture, physiotherapy and magnotherapy. The Reaseheath staff team has extensive specialist knowledge in all aspects of equine science and complementary therapy (including PhD Veterinary Physiologist and Master Reiki Healer). In addition students will develop practical skills through an introduction to specific therapies including Reiki healing and massage. Reaseheath's Equestrian Centre has specialist equipment to support this degree route including a round pen, solarium, equissage, magnotherapy equipment, aura video station, gait analysis and full laboratory facilities. Upon successful completion of the Foundation Degree, students who wish to gain a full honours degree may progress onto the BSc (Hons) Equine Science final year top-up.
