WHEEL THROWING - BEGINNERS & IMPROVERS

The skills and knowledge required to produce wheel thrown pottery for use in the home. It will cover simple forms like mugs and bowls through to more complex shapes like casseroles and teapots. This course aims to allow the beginner to develop and practice basic throwing skills. Learners with some experience of wheel throwing will be able to consolidate their skills and explore methods of surface decoration, make composite forms, pull and attach handles, making fitting lids and concentrate on making forms to pre-determined designs. Concentrating on developing skills and gaining confidence using the potters wheel, this practical course will cover how to prepare clay, centre and throw to produce a range of forms. Please bring an apron to protect your clothing. All tools are provided.
