CERAMICS - WHEEL THROWING BEGINNERS

This course will allow the beginner to develop skills required for producing wheel thrown pottery. The potter's wheel as a creative tool will be explained and demonstrated, allowing learners to make and glaze wheel thrown forms. This course aims to allow the beginner to develop basic throwing skills. This practical course will teach learners how to prepare clay, centre and use the wheel to throw cylinders, bowls and other simple forms. Handles and lids will also be demonstrated. Although concentrating on developing skills and gaining confidence using the potters wheel, this course will also introduce some methods of surface decoration and glaze application. Please bring an apron to protect your clothing. All tools are provided. What
