Electricians are typically employed by companies undertaking domestic wiring installations or electrical contract companies who are commissioned to install large electrical equipment for industrial plants. Electrical Technicians tend to focus on the maintenace and repair of industrial equipment such as transformers , generators, turbines and compressors. There are employment prospects across a wide variety of roles and working environments and many opportunities to specialise into fields such as high voltage or hazardous areas which can lead to overseas or offshore employment. Example course content: - Working Safely in an engineering environment - carrying out engineering efficiently and effectively - using and communicatiing technical information - Wiring and testing equipment - assembling wiring and testing electrical panels/components mounted in enclosures - Maintaining electrical equipment/systems
