Structure of the Course Paper 1 covers the first three modules of the course. This includes • Understanding Organisms (fitness, food, health, drugs, nerves and hormones, genes and variation) • Understanding Our Environment (classification, energy flow, interdependence, adaptation and selection, population and pollution, sustainability) • Living and Growing (molecules of life, protein and mutations, respiration, cell division, blood flow, growth and development, cloning) Paper 2 covers a further 3 modules: • It’s a Green World (ecology, photosynthesis, diffusion and osmosis, transport in plants, plants and minerals, decay, farming) • The Living Body (skeletons, heart and circulation, breathing, digestion, waste disposal, reproduction and repair) • Beyond the Microscope (microorganisms, biofuels, life in soil, harmful microorganisms, enzymes in action, gene technology)
