The course covers the full range of Financial Accounting and Cost and Management and topics. ◾Financial Accounting is concerned with the preparation of financial information and how it is presented in its final form e.g. Income Statements and Balance Sheets. Emphasis is placed on both preparation and interpretation of statements from different kinds of business organisation in order to be able to evaluate their performance. At AS the accounting records and financial statements of sole traders and limited companies are studied. The A- Level specification is more detailed and covers the financial statements for cash based businesses, partnerships and public limited companies. ◾Cost and Management Accounting is concerned with using financial information in the decision-making process. At AS only simple ratio analysis and cash budgets are studied. The A-level specification is more detailed and covers topics which include Budgeting, Marginal, Absorption and Activity Based Costing, Standard Costing and Variance Analysis and Investment Appraisal.
