This course will suit you if you have some accounting experience. The units include maintenance of financial records and preparing accounts, recording cost information and preparing reports and returns. A full-time 18 week fast-track course is also available. The AAT was formed in 1980 and is sponsored by four UK Chartered Accountancy bodies. They are the world's largest dedicated professional body for qualified Accounting Technicians and people employed in a variety of accounting and financial roles. The Association's qualification is appropriate for all finance and accounting staff undertaking financial and accounting duties, whether in industry and commerce or the public sector, or in the offices of practising accountants. It is a highly regarded qualification and the Association is growing rapidly. There are three criteria for membership of the AAT: proven competence, a minimum period of approved work experience and evidence of suitability for membership and commitment to the Association. The scheme is divided into 3 stages of competency: L2 Certificate in Accounting, L3 Diploma in Accounting, and L4 Diploma in Accounting. Students wishing to complete the Technician qualification need to achieve NVQ 3 in Accounting.
