The BTEC Level 2 in Public Services is a one year course and is designed to give students the opportunity to gain a realistic idea of what a career in the Public Services can offer. If you are thinking of a career in a Government organisation or any of the Public Services this course may be the one for you. Students will have the opportunity to visit a variety of Public Services and will also gain knowledge of the industry from a wide range of speakers. To be successful in this industry, it is important to have excellent interpersonal skills, be able to communicate with a range of people, have a commitment to develop your own personal qualities, be enthusiastic, energetic and have a keen interest in developing skills and techniques.

Students are required to complete a portfolio (file) containing evidence of assignments, practical performance, presentations, group exercises and discussions. Teaching is through a series of lectures, group discussions and investigations, presentations from outside organisations, hands-on experience with different organisations and practical activities including team building exercises.A stringent fitness programme is also an integral part of the course. Students are given plenty of help and direction from staff and are encouraged to undertake their own research and additional reading.
