BA (Hons) Digital Television Production

UPDATED 20131122 12:57:19

This groundbreaking course has been developed in consultation with industry (Sky, BBC, Channel 4, ITV, Red Bee, SIS, and independent production companies). It is designed to train producers and crews who will create innovative programming for television and the web. Digital Television Production offers two pathways: The Production Pathway is designed for those who want to make outstanding and innovative television programming using a variety of distribution platforms, social media and/or commerce, driven by both the needs of the central story or concept, and audience behaviours and preferences. The Operations Pathway will produce graduates who can hit the ground running as flexible, highly skilled, studio and location crew members, able to work on multi-camera or single-camera shoots. You will gain an in depth understanding of digital operations including the use of media asset management systems, re-purposing media for a range of platforms, and cross-platform working. Learners on both pathways will develop a thorough knowledge of the newest work flows and production practices. You will be encouraged to explore emerging technologies and storytelling techniques, working – as in industry – in interdisciplinary teams. There will be regular opportunities to consolidate your developing skills through shoots, productions, broadcasts, live streaming, IPTV, 3DTV, and placements in industry. Our annual degree show and regular industry conferences (including the largest annual UK conference on 3D Stereoscopic film and television) offer regular opportunities for Learners to present work and receive feedback. Our television and post-production studios are state-of-the-art, our staff are experts in their field, and we research and innovate in Digital Television. Graduates from both pathways are likely to be in high demand as they benefit from Ravensbourne’s strong, long-standing reputation in the TV industry.
