The course aims to provide you with the knowledge and skills appropriate to a range of career outcomes in fashion accessory design. You are encouraged to develop their individual creative ability and support this with the development of a high level of vocationally orientated technical skills. In particular, this program aims to enable you to develop: • a range of creative, technical and professional skills relevant to employment in the fashion industry and related areas; which include skills in research, analysis, problem-solving and critical reflection and the visual, written and verbal communication skills required of a graduate entrant to the fashion industry and branded lifestyle industry; • a comprehensive knowledge of contemporary professional practice and the creative process in the professional field in which they will specialise and an awareness of current and emerging areas of development and innovation; • an experimental and creative use of technologies, particularly digital visualisation, prototyping and information specification, also embracing the use of blended technologies for sustainable and/or efficient design proposals; • a clear vision of individual creative strengths and how these can be successfully managed and applied in scenarios of client oriented product development and potential career opportunities; • a progressive view and understanding of ‘accessories’ where new brand extensions can be established, particularly in the digital arena, where apps and service design can associate the brand and its client more closely.
