It offers a balance of technical training coupled with real-time, quantifiable Quality, Cost and Delivery improvements. All aspects of the BIT Apprenticeship will be assessed against competencies to ensure the employee is delivering against all specifications. The programme provides valuable experience in a variety of improvement activities. These include: 5S and Health & Safety – understanding and implementing 5S systems. 5S is a structured business improvement tool to organise the workplace in preparation for delivering quantifiable improvements. Data Analysis & Problem Solving – using key business measures to understand problems and their root causes. Solution Implementation – developing and implementing appropriate improvements. Standardised Work – developing standardised work to ensure sustainability. Continuous Improvement – understanding that one improvement is not enough. Team-working – using all the above to develop their own teams. Apprentices will complete both mandatory and optional units in the above
