"The course combines a mixture of practical and theoretical assessments; you will need to have completed 400 hours of placement to achieve this qualification. Examples of assessment methods include: Essay writing and report writing; Presentations; Major research project (dissertation). If you have not achieved Mathematics and English at Level 2, you will be expected to achieve Functional Skills in English and Mathematics as well. This course is equivalent to 3 A-Levels. You will be involved in a mixture of practical workshops, placement assessments, theory lessons and seminars covering a range of topics including: Equality and diversity; Child development and nutrition; Protecting children; How children learn and play. This course is a brilliant option if you would like to progress straight into employment with a licence to practise. It also qualifies you to enter positions at supervisory levels. The course also provides an academic pathway for students wishing to go onto university, for example, BA (Hons) Early Childhood Studies, Education, Primary Teaching (if English, Mathematics and Science are at grade C or higher) or Social Work."
