Skilled for Life BTEC Level 2

This course is part of a suite of qualifications under the foundation learning umbrella. This course has been designed as a progression for learners who have completed a Level 1 course and need a supported environment to continue with their studies. The aim of the course is to familiarise learners with qualities needed to move onto a full Level 2 provision, Apprenticeship or employment. On completion of the course learners will achieve an Edexcel Level 2 Skilled for Life qualification as well as other qualifications. Confidence building and strategies for personal development will be taught alongside their qualifications. Most units will be taught by the staff of the Foundation Learning team who have experience of learners needs in learning. Learners will gain knowledge that will enable them to progress towards: a) Employment b) Training c) Continuation onto further qualifications Course content 1. Vocational Credits 2. Workskills Credits 3. Work Experience Credits 4. Behaviour Awareness Credits Plus an opportunity to increase to further Awards Functional Skills 1. English 2. Maths

Entry requirements

Learners will be asked to pay £50.00 towards trips and course enrichment at the beginning of the year. Financial help may be available for families on lower incomes. There will also be some weekly costs for some sessions but this will be kept to a minimum. In addition some of the routeways have further costs where external trips, uniforms etc are needed.
