City & Guilds Award in Supporting Teaching & Learning in Schools These qualifications are aimed at anyone interested in or starting out in a career in Supporting Teaching & Learning in Schools. It is a knowledge-based qualification, and can be taken by learners not yet employed in a school, as well as providing initial training/induction for those new in post. It seeks to develop the knowledge and understanding that all those working in a school setting. The award covers areas such as safeguarding, communication and relationships, child development and understanding the school context. To complete the level 2 award, learners must achieve 9 credits from the mandatory units and 3 credits from the optional units available. Mandatory Child and young person development, unit 201 (2 credits) Safeguarding the welfare of children and young people, unit 202 (3 credits) Communication and professional relationships with children, young people and adults, unit 203 (2 credits) Equality, diversity and inclusion in work with children and young people, unit 204 (2 credits).
