You will be studying English for everyday life situations: Shopping Health Travel and Transport Home Friends and Family Work You will improve your Speaking and Listening: Ask and answer questions about yourself Ask for things and make requests Listen for information on prices, times, instructions Improve your pronunciation Take part in discussions Reading: Read key words Read sentences and texts Read signs, notices, notes and letters Writing: Fill in forms Spell key words Write sentences Use capital letters and punctuation correctly If English is not your first language, we have friendly groups in many different centres across Derby in the morning, afternoon and evening. The courses start at £3.50 per hour and are FREE if you are in receipt of Jobseeker’s Allowance, Employment Support Allowance or you are unemployed, actively looking for work and in receipt of another state benefit (e.g. Income Support, Council Tax/Housing Benefit, Pension Guarantee Credit). You will be required to show evidence of your benefits. You will attend an assessment session to determine your level. Improving your English can increase your job prospects.
