This course will help you build on language skills gained at GCSE level. It follows topics of interest such as media, sport and fashion whilst allowing you to develop your language and grammatical skills to a high standard. AS Level (Year 1) You will study the following: TV Advertising, Communication Technology, Cinema,Music, Fashion, Sport and Exercise, Health and Well-being, Holidays, Relationships within the Family, Friendships, Marriage and Partnerships. A2 Level (Year 2) You will study the following: Pollution, Energy, Protecting the Planet, Immigration, Racism, Wealth and Poverty, Law and Order, Impact of Scientific and Technical Progress. Also, 2 culture-related topics from the following: A region or community. A period of 20th century history. The work of an author. The work of a dramatist or poet. The work of a director, architect, musician or painter. Assessed by exam only. You can go onto university to study the language as a main subject, or continue your language learning alongside another subject such as politics, literature or business. Many jobs these days require a language as the barriers to travel and trade are pushed back. Opportunities might include careers in international finance or law, alongside positions in the travel and tourism industry.
