This course covers key aspects of physical, organic and inorganic chemistry from both a theoretical and a practical viewpoint. Every unit relates to the application and relevance of chemistry to the real world. Three modules are undertaken for AS Chemistry Unit 1: The Core principles of Chemistry Unit 2: Application of Core Principles of Chemistry Unit 3: Chemistry Laboratory Skills 1 (internally assessed) Three further modules are undertaken for A2 Chemistry Unit 4: General Principles of Chemistry 1 - Rates, Equilibria and Further Organic Chemistry Unit 5:General Principles of Chemistry II - Transition Metals and Organic Nitrogen Chemistry Unit 6: Chemistry Laboratory Skills II (internally assessed) Assessed by coursework and exam. Educational visits, e.g. to Cambridge University during science week and opportunities to work with students from local schools are encouraged as part of the course. ? Degrees in Chemistry or a Chemistry related subject such as biochemistry, pharmacy, environmental health, environmental monitoring and geology. ? Degrees in Medicine or Veterinary Science ? A wide range of employment opportunities in laboratory or related work of physical, organic and inorganic chemistry from both a theoretical and a practical viewpoint.
