Duration : 1 year This is an introductory course designed for young people interested by a career with young children. The course will stimulate their interest and encourage their understanding of the skills and knowledge needed to care for and play with young children. Some of the units are: - Healthy eating for families - Respecting and valuing young children - Children's play and leisure activities in the community - Supporting babies to play - Craft activities for young children Functional skills in English',' maths and ICT are a key part of the course. You will also study the Level 1 Award or Certificate in Personal and Social Development. All units will be individually internally assessed using a range of methods which could include: written assignments or tasks such as designing a leaflet or booklet',' charts or diagrams or setting up an information board. Entry Requirements: No formal qualifications are required but all applicants will be interviewed and awarded a place on individual merit. You will need to commit to regular attendance and appropriate behavioural standards. Career Options: On successful achievement you may have the opportunity to progress onto a relevant Level 2.
