This qualification provides learners with specialist skills and knowledge in one of the major growth areas of the hospitality industry - the beverage sector. The modern café not only serves a range of espresso based drinks, such as cappuccino and latte, but often serves teas; filter coffee, hot chocolate, juices and smoothies as well. The Level 2 Award in Barista Skills encompasses all these drinks. Learners will learn where the products come from and some of the processes they go through, from growing to the final drink. They will also learn the importance of taking care of the products in order to provide an excellent final result and to deliver a welcoming customer experience in any hospitality environment. Learners will be required to complete an externally set short answer test and an individual practical assessment.
