The IGCSE contains all of the following elements. Writing Skills consists of three pieces of coursework – a piece of descriptive writing including a piece of descriptive writing and a film review. Coursework accounts for 40% of your total marks. Reading Skills. This is one piece of coursework – a letter to a newspaper in response to a controversial article; an examination comprehension question. Spoken Language Study. This is a talk/presentation accounting for 20% of your total marks. All of the above will be assessed by coursework, much of which can be prepared both at home and in class using personal computers and allowing for drafting and re-drafting. Exam Preparation for the exam, which is at the end of May, includes both reading comprehension and short writing tasks.
