BTEC Ext Diploma Costume, Jewellery & Interior Accessories (Design Crafts)

This course offers students the opportunity to explore a wide range of pathways including jewellery, ceramics, applied art, textiles, interior design and fashion, in specialist studios and workshops. Therefore students will gain experience of the techniques, materials and equipment used in the design craft industries. Learn how to generate, develop and create contemporary ideas in response to challenging briefs and gain invaluable knowledge and skills in how to become designer/makers through promotion, function and saleability of your work. Highly creative designer/maker tutors guide students through investigations that develop and extend practical 2D and 3D skills within projects and assignments enabling students to create, promote and sell contemporary bespoke applied art and handcrafted saleable pieces. As part of this exciting journey, students participate in live briefs and industry-led assignments and benefit from visiting working design studios and craft centres as well as cities rich in creativity such as London, Venice or Barcelona. Students are also encouraged to find ways of selling their work and developing business skills invaluable for their futures. Final grades will give the following maximum UCAS point score of: 420 for Extended Diploma Level 3 Successful completion of the course gives the qualifications and skills required to progress into a range of Degree or Foundation Degree courses or to go directly into employment.
