This course offers students the opportunity to become commercial and highly employable "creative problem solvers" in graphics, illustration or associated industries. Tutors are industry professionals who teach students how to use the design process to originate creative and highly appropriate design solutions in response to assignments covering advertising, editorial design, packaging, marketing and promotions, storyboarding, illustration, branding, computer graphics, corporate identity etc. Students discover how to turn hand rendered experiments into professional outcomes using dedicated, state of the art, AppleMac computer equipment that exceeds industry standards. In Year 2 students can decide to study illustration as a pathway. However, whether studying graphics or illustration, all students are challenged and have their expectations and talents stretched and moulded towards a professional work ethic. The course teaches what the design industry needs, not what education thinks it needs, yet still maintains the very highest educational standards. We are a grade one course producing grade one students! Final grades will give the maximum UCAS point score of 420. Successful completion of the course will give the skills and qualifications required to progress into a range of Degree and Foundation Degree courses or to go directly into industry. Career pathways include: Graphic Design, Illustration, Editorial Design, Advertising or related design industries. Students also progress into Teaching, PR, Marketing, Sales Promotion, Art Therapy, Interior Design, Fashion Design, Textiles, Surface Graphics and Journalism amongst others.
