Springfields apprenticeships are based on national standards, fully monitored and trains apprentices to NVQ level 3 - Fabrication and Welding. The apprenticeships are aimed at people of both genders with good academic qualifications, (a minimum 4 GCSE’s at C or above in Maths, English and Science) who have a practical engineering aptitude. The training you will receive as an apprentice at Springfields will equip you with the necessary skills to be part of Springfields’ future, and give you the opportunity to earn at the same time as you learn. This will give you the chance of a first class start to a career in engineering and a trade which can sustain for life. The apprenticeship begins with studying basic engineering and craft skills to NVQ level 2 on a six months foundation course. Following your foundation training, training in the advance workshops is a specialised programme covering a range of skills in the chosen discipline. Apprentices are required to attend college to study for a technical certificate on day release. Throughout the third and fourth years, apprentices follow a training plan which will allow you to carry out specific tasks during plant placement. This will give you the knowledge and practical experience you require, under the guidance of skilled craftsmen.
