ESOL classes are for adults from other countries who live in England and need to improve their English language skills. Courses run from September to June, but it is possible to join at any time provided there is space in the class. The classes give you the opportunity to learn and practice English in a supportive and friendly environment, using language in a practical way for everyday situations. You will have the chance to improve your reading, writing, speaking and listening skills and study vocabulary and grammar. All courses take place at Strode College. Students will take Edexcel exams in ESOL, we also offer the Speaking & Listening Stand Alone Qualification; there are five levels in total: Entry 1, Entry 2, Entry 3, Level 1 and Level 2. Your tutor will advise you on the right level for you. All courses are now fee-charging, but you can pay monthly on direct debit. The prices below are for people with EU Nationality, Leave to Remain and spouses of UK citizens. People on Job Seekers Allowance (JSA) or Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) do not need to pay the course fee, but will need to pay the exam fee. Nb. At the time of going to press the UK Border Agency is changing its rules on settlement and naturalisation. From October 2013 applicants for British Citizenship will be expected to have qualifications at Entry 3 or above. At present we do not know if Edexcel ESOL qualifications will be accepted for Citizenship applications or not.
