The construction industry has had for many years a traditional Apprenticeship programme. There are 1,817,049 employees in construction in England, and by the year 2015, a further 38,630 new recruits will be needed to fill the posts of those that retire or leave the industry. An Apprenticeship in construction follows a pattern of vocational training. Individuals are expected to develop skills and knowledge which they can then demonstrate and evidence in a real construction environment. Elements covered within this Apprenticeship include: Level 2 Diploma in Painting and Decorating (Technical Certificate) Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Decorative Finishing and Industrial Painting (Competency Element) Functional Skills at Level 1 in maths and English Employee Rights and Responsibilities Personal Learning and Thinking Skills Job roles could include: painter and industrial painter. Following achievement of this Apprenticeship, individuals could progress to study the Advanced (Level 3) Apprenticeship in Construction Building: Decorative Finishing.

Name: Decorative Finishing and Industrial Painting Qualification title: NVQ Diploma in Decorative Finishing and Industrial Painting Occupations (Construction) (QCF) Qualification type: Assessment Individuals must achieve a minimum of 156 credits in order to complete this Apprenticeship. The Apprenticeship includes: - Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Decorative Finishing and Industrial Painting (Competency Element) 56 credits must be achieved. The qualification will be assessed via: observation of performance in the work environment, questioning, discussions, witness statements, written statements produced by individuals and recognition of prior learning. - Level 2 Diploma in Painting and Decorating (Technical Certificate) 90 credits must be achieved. The qualification will be assessed via: written statements produced by individuals and online assessment. - Employee Rights and Responsibilities Individuals must complete a workbook. - Functional Skills at level 1 in English and maths Individuals must undertake assessments under exam conditions.
