Environmental Conservation Level 2 Apprenticeship

UPDATED 20150211 10:17:31

Environmental conservation apprentices are based with an employer 4 days a week and attend college 1 day a week on a day release basis for knowledge, portfolio building and assessments. The college has links with employers and will try to place apprentices in suitable employment, however this cannot be guaranteed so we advise applicants to look for their own employer. You will learn about wildlife habitat management, ground preparation and planting, pruning shrubs and trees, health and safety, using and maintaining tools and machinery. You will experience working as part of a team and with children & young people during environmental activities. In addition to your environmental conservation qualification you will also study for a LANTRA (awarding body) Knowledge Certificate and qualifications in English and maths if you have not already gained a minimum GCSE grade C. This course is suitable for those who wish to gain an environmental conservation qualification while in employment and develop their careers within the industry. You will need to be practically minded, like working outdoors in all seasons and able to undertake a range of tasks including lifting and moving, ground preparation and planting. You also need to be prepared to do some study in your own time.
