The Retail Skills Apprenticeship is aimed at those working in retail and a customer focused environment, the Retail Skills qualifications enable you to demonstrate your competency across a range of units such as, covering displaying stock, processing payments, resolving customer service problems and working effectively in a retail team. The Advanced Apprenticeship: Is suitable for section/department managers, team leaders and supervisors. The Advanced Apprenticeship is achieved by completing the following City & Guilds qualifications: £ Level 3 Diploma in Retail Skills (Management) (43 Credits) £ Level 3 Certificate in Retail Knowledge (10 Credits) £ Functional Skills in Maths, English and ICT (unless exempt). £ Employment Rights & Responsibilities £ Personal Learning & Thinking Skills The minimum Guided Learning Hours (GLH) for the Retail Skills (Management) Advanced Apprenticeship is 395 hours. It is expected that the Apprenticeship will usually last 15 months, but a flexible approach to learning is encouraged. Apprenticeships are open to anyone over the age of 16, whether they have just left school or have been working for a number of years. Applicants need to be legally permitted to work in the EU, employed in a relevant job role and not taking part in any other full-time education. Apprentices who took their GCSEs more than five years ago and did not gain a C grade or above will need to complete Functional Skills. To start an Advanced Apprenticeship programme, you should ideally have achieved GCSEs (grade C or above) or have completed an Intermediate Apprenticeship before.
