The Advanced Apprenticeship is ideal for those wanting to develop skills and knowledge, whilst working in a professional kitchen or those in a supervisory/management role within the hospitality sector. The Advanced Apprenticeship is achieved by completing the following City & Guilds qualifications: £ Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Professional Cookery (56 Credits) £ Level 3 Certificate in Hospitality and Catering Principles in Professional Cookery (26 Credits) £ Functional Skills in Maths and English (unless exempt). £ Employment Rights & Responsibilities £ Personal Learning & Thinking Skills The minimum Guided Learning Hours (GLH) for the Professional Cookery Advanced Apprenticeship is 636 hours. It is expected that the Apprenticeship will usually last 18 months, but a flexible approach to learning is encouraged. Apprenticeships are open to anyone over the age of 16, whether they have just left school or have been working for a number of years. Applicants need to be legally permitted to work in the EU, employed in a relevant job role and not taking part in any other full-time education. Apprentices who took their GCSEs more than five years ago and did not gain a C grade or above will need to complete Functional Skills. To start an Advanced Apprenticeship programme, you should ideally have achieved GCSEs (grade C or above) or have completed an Intermediate Apprenticeship before.
