The Level 2 MAP Apprenticeship; This is designed for employed operatives who are working in the meat and poultry industry. It covers a broad range of skills from handling of livestock, primary meat processing, secondary processing/butchery, packaging and butchery sales and service. It offers learners the opportunity to develop skills and knowledge required to prove competence at work. The flexible choice of units, allows learners to select units that are most relevant to their own employment, learning and progression requirements. The choice of units also reflects the wide variety of jobs which people do in different types of companies in the meat industry. This qualification also offers learners the opportunity to develop knowledge in some areas of meat and poultry technology. The Level 2 Apprenticeship is achieved by completing the following qualifications: £ Level 2 Certificate for Proficiency in Meat & Poultry Skills (27 Credits) £ Functional Skills in Maths, English (unless exempt). £ Employment Rights & Responsibilities £ Personal Learning & Thinking Skills The minimum Guided Learning Hours (GLH) for the Level 2 MAP Apprenticeship is 188 hours. It is expected that the Apprenticeship will usually last 12 months, but a flexible approach to learning is encouraged. Apprenticeships are open to anyone over the age of 16, whether they have just left school or have been working for a number of years. Applicants need to be legally permitted to work in the EU, employed in a relevant job role and not taking part in any other full-time education. Apprentices who took their GCSEs more than five years ago and did not gain a C grade or above will need to complete Functional Skills
