The Intermediate Apprenticeship: is ideal if you have no experience or you have some experience and are looking at improving your skills and knowledge. The Apprenticeship is achieved by completing the following City & Guilds qualifications: £ Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Kitchen Services (37 Credits) £ Level 2 Certificate in Hospitality and Catering Principles (Kitchen Services) (13 Credits) £ Functional/Key Skills in Maths and English (unless exempt). £ Employment Rights & Responsibilities £ Personal Learning & Thinking Skills The minimum Guided Learning Hours (GLH) for the Kitchen Services apprenticeship is 497 hours. It is expected that the Apprenticeship will usually last 12 months, but a flexible approach to learning is encouraged. Apprenticeships are open to anyone over the age of 16, whether they have just left school or have been working for a number of years. Applicants need to be legally permitted to work in the EU, employed in a relevant job role and not taking part in any other full-time education. Apprentices who took their GCSEs more than five years ago and did not gain a C grade or above will need to complete Functional Skills. To start an Advanced Apprenticeship programme, you should ideally have achieved GCSEs (grade C or above) or have completed an Intermediate Apprenticeship before.
