The qualification combines knowledge and practical work with employment experience and will work on outdoor jobs. The course reflects the skills and knowledge needed to pursue a career in Trees and Timber. This Apprenticeship helps learners gain practical skills in working with trees, equipment and identifying tree diseases as well as developing theory and gaining Functional Skills. What modules are covered? Mandatory Units •Control local pollution incidents in environmental and land-based industries •Identify tree species, their properties and associated plants •Monitor and maintain health and safety •Fell and process small trees •Crosscut and stack small diameter timber using a chainsaw •Prepare & maintain safe working sites for arboricultural operations from the ground •Arboricultural ground worker •Process arisings/residues from tree work and timber operations •Chainsaw maintenance Optional Units - Examples (these are chosen by your assessor and employer) •Treat & dispose of stumps and roots •Climbing and aerial rescue •Safe use of powered pole pruners •Using a chainsaw from a rope and harness •Sectional felling Skill Requirements: •Good practical skills •Stamina •Flexibility •Responsibility •Health and Safety awareness What else do I need to know?
