Routes are mixed farming, crop production and livestock. The Apprenticeship also includes Functional Skills. Mandatory Units •Monitoring and maintaining health and safety •Maintain and develop personal performance •Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others •Establish and maintain conditions appropriate to the welfare of animals •Prepare feed and water supplies for livestock •Monitor and maintain the supply of feed and livestock Optional Units •Maintain bio-security and personal hygiene •Establish and confirm pregnancy in livestock •Maintain livestock during pregnancy •Maintain the health and welfare of livestock during the birth and care for mother and baby •Prepare, establish and maintain livestock in their accommodation •Prepare outdoor sites for the introduction of livestock •Monitor and maintain livestock on outdoor sites •Prepare for, carry out and complete milking of livestock •Prepare for the shearing of livestock •Shear livestock •Load and unload physical resources within the work area •Transport physical resource within the work area •Prepare and operate a tractor with attachments •Prepare and operate a power vehicle •Repair and maintain structures and surfaces •Maintain equipment and machines •Establish animals in a new environment •Prepare for the transport of animals •Maintain the health and welfare of animals during transportation •Prepare and groom animals •Deliver basic treatments to livestock
