Level 3 Work based Apprenticeship Animal Care

This qualification is ideal for those working at a supervisory level in boarding kennels, pet shops, rescue shelters and all other small animal establishments. Working with a dedicated tutor, you will gain skills and knowledge in planning daily work, supervisor how others carry out their work and evaluating the health of animals. What modules are covered? The Mandatory Units for study are: •Implement, monitor & evaluate plans for the health & welfare of animals •Promote, monitor & maintain health, safety & security of the workplace •Plan the handling & restraint of animals •Plan, supervise & control the movement of animals •Plan the accommodation of animals •Monitor & evaluate the accommodation of animals Students must also achieve either: •Plan diets & feeding regimes for animals •Monitor & evaluate the feeding of animals Or •Load and unload animals for transportation •Establish animals in a new environment In addition to the mandatory units students may choose from the following units: •Promote & maintain the health & well-being of animals •Welcome, reveive and care for visitors to sites •Handle animals to enable them to work effectively •Care for animals after they have worked •Provide advice & guidance on the choice & care of animals to prospective keepers •Assess the suitability of new environments for the placement of animals •Plan the establishment & management of wild animal populations •Monitor & evaluate the establishment & management of wild animal populations •Provide information on how to maintain the behaviour, health & welfare of animals •Recognise & interpret the behaviour of animals •Contribute to the prevention of aggressive & abusive behaviour of people •Contribute to managing aggressive and abusive behaviour of people •Sell over the counter medicines and treatments for the care of animals Working with a dedicated tutor, you will build a portfolio of evidence.
