Business Improvement Techniques enables employees to gain recognition for demonstrating their competence to deliver Quality, Cost and Delivery Improvements within their own workplace, enabling the employer to achieve measurable improvements in reducing costs and increasing productivity. It is ideally suited to those intending to get involved with continuous improvement (Kaizen) and employees already working within a team environment who want to develop their skills further within a Lean/World Class organisation Business Improvement Techniques provides a standard programme on the tools and techniques of lean process and quality improvement activities. It is a hands on programme designed to support continuous improvement and promoting effective team working. It teaches how to identify and eliminate waste, create flow and improve quality leading to greater efficiency and increased profitability. The Apprenticeship offers a number of qualifications with the ultimate goal being the Apprenticeship Certificate. The programme offers choice and flexibility and options chosen will be dependent upon the learner’s job function within a company. Health and safety, working with others and having good communication skills is mandatory and the importance is emphasised. The overall knowledge and skills gained will help the learner to contribute towards the workplace and gain personal satisfaction and success and options to progress.

Name: Business Improvement Techniques Apprenticeship Level 2 Qualification title: NVQ Diploma in Business-Improvement Techniques (QCF) Qualification type: Assessment Initial Assessment Candidate’s would have an initial interview and assessment and have the opportunity to discuss prior learning and training requirements and options. Candidates are required to log into In-Comm’s Virtual College which is the central focus to learning and development with In-comm. Once logged into the Virtual College learners are required to go through a series of e-learning modules as part of your induction and to complete three initial diagnostic assessments covering Maths, English and ICT. This will enable self study and up skilling for their functional skills element. Qualification Credits The Apprenticeship offers a minimum number of credits - 81 at Level 2 and 149 at Level 3. Assessment against the Standards You will be required to attend a three/five day Principles of Lean & Business Improvement Techniques training course which will deliver topics such as 7 Measures, 5s, Health & Safety and Quality to get you ready to sit a multiple choice online exam at the end of the course and prepare you for the work within your technical certificate. You will also have access where needed via the Virtual College to e-learning workshops to up skill your knowledge and understanding further. These are to be discussed on a one to one basis with your assessor and covers courses such as:  Contributing to the application of problem solving techniques  Workplace Organisational Techniques (5s)  Continuous Improvement Techniques ( Kaizen)  Visual Management Following on from the theory course your assigned assessor will visit you in your place of work to conduct a walk through of your job role in order to familiarise themselves with your working routine so that they can guide you through the NVQ process. Following this there will then be group workshops held on a six weekly basis in order for you to meet with your assessor to bring together your NVQ and for workshops to be held for areas that need addressing as highlighted throughout the programme. These workshops also enable you as the learner to hold discussions with your peers and to bring forward best practices. Internal Verification, External Verification, Achievement of Qualification The qualification is monitored and audited both internally and by awarding body external verification Programme Review and Evaluation – 10 weekly reviews will be undertaken throughout the programme to ensure that you as the learner are meeting your targets and making satisfactory progress. All employers are required to take part in the review process, so we will involve your line managers in this process.
