What's On The Course? Produce dynamic websites in PHP. This course is designed to take existing web development skills to the next level by introducing dynamic content. You will learn how to allow a user or site owner to update a site by interacting with a database rather than having to edit and upload individual pages. Topics will cover aspects including connecting your website to a mySQL database, inserting to, updating and retrieving data (including appropriate images) from the database via the website, basic SQL (structured query language), basic page security plus related topics. It is intended that this course will be delivered using PHP/mySQL, although operational circumstances my require the use of classic ASP/VBScript instead. Either PHP or ASP provides a good foundation on which to adapt to the other language This course will not result directly in a qualification. It is intended to provide the foundation of understanding and skills which students can then either use 'as is', or develop with additional self-study through the W3Schools website in order to take the on-line test for the appropriate W3Schools Certificate at their own discretion. Classwork will follow the W3 Consortium (W3C) standards.
