This course is your opportunity to gain the practical knowledge and skills you'll need to start a career in IT. You'll focus on software development (programming), but also learn technical aspects of how computers work and how they are used in industry and commerce. You'll have the chance to go on a work placement to gain valuable experience. You will need a computer, internet access, and a memory stick. You will also have to buy recommended books to be able to complete your assignments. You may study units including Computer Systems, Information Systems, Software Design and Development, Systems Analysis and Design, Website Production, Digital Graphics, E-Commerce, and Developing Computer Games. You will gain a BTEC Level 3 Diploma/Extended Diploma in IT and Functional Skills qualifications in Maths and English. You could move on to a HND or degree, become self-employed or find a job in an IT related occupation, such as programming, applications support, web design, graphic design or business administration.
